IN THE WORLD OF SEPHARAD - The most beautiful Sephardic songs

Sephardic music, the music of Jews who lived on the Iberian Peninsula in the Middle Ages, comes from Spain - Sepharad as it was called in Hebrew. The choice of songs for the program IN THE WORLD OF SEPHARAD was made by the vocalist Anna Riveiro who is considered to be the master of Sephardic songs and called “the Polish voice of Sepharad („La voz polaca de Sefarad” - eSefarad.com).

Anna Riveiro, “gifted with an extraordinary voice of warm, southern timbre”, reveals a huge range of emotions hidden in songs. She uses vocal techniques related, among others, to the music of ancient Spain and the way the Sephardic music was performed in Mediterranean countries. All the pieces are sung in original language of Sephardic people called ladino (or judeo-español).

The vocalist is accompanied by the eminent violinist Marcin David Król, who plays violin in a classical way as well as uses sounds and effects inspired by Spanish, Sephardic, Arabic and Indian music. He often experiments with the sound of the violin surprising his audience with new effects and tones.

The artists relate together to improvised and trans-music involving the listeners into an emotional musical story. The charismatic voice of Anna Riveiro and the extraordinary sound of the violin of Marcin David Król lead the audience by the paths Sepharad and revive the world which no longer exists…
